The editorial policy of Revista Género SUR establishes that in all cases authors retain the rights to their manuscript, which is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC 4.0). This licence allows users to share, remix and adapt the published articles, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author and that the content is not used for commercial purposes. Review process
The editorial policy of Revista Género SUR establishes that every work submitted for publication must undergo evaluation by two external peers specialising in the discipline, thematic and/or theoretical field to which the manuscript belongs, under a double-blind system. Reviewers assess methodological rigour, the quality of the results, the relevance of the contribution and the clarity of the manuscript, without knowing the identity of the author or of the other reviewer. Should the evaluations diverge, a member of the Scientific Committee will decide on the possible publication of the article.
Anti-plagiarism policies
Submitted articles must be original and unpublished and must have the consent of all authors. Authors are therefore asked to use the submission letter template through which they commit to these criteria.
The journal does not publish articles that have previously been published in another language. The journal uses Compilatio software as a plagiarism detection tool to verify the originality of manuscripts. Any significant overlap above 15% will be reviewed by the editorial team and may lead to rejection of the article.
Revista Género SUR undertakes before the community to issue any retractions and errata necessary to guarantee the transparency of the journal and due process in any case detected or reported.
Authors are responsible for the material included in their work, such as tables, graphs, photographs, figures and any other content required for the publication, and declare that these do not infringe copyright.
Authorisations and informed consent
Authors submitting manuscripts reporting studies that involve personal data and human beings must state the ethical procedures followed in their research. They must include in the manuscript a statement confirming that written informed consent was obtained from all study participants or their legal representatives. Where applicable, approval of the research protocol by a duly accredited ethics committee must be mentioned, stating the name of the committee and the approval number.
For research using personal or sensitive data, authors must guarantee compliance with applicable local and international legislation, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The manuscript must indicate how data privacy was protected and whether participants gave their consent for the use of their information.
The use of photographs in which people appear must have the relevant authorisations and must not cause any harm or detriment to those appearing in the image.
In the case of animal experiments, authors must certify in the manuscript that all procedures carried out complied with international guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals, such as those established by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) or equivalent standards. It is mandatory to provide information on approval of the study by an animal ethics committee, stating in the manuscript the name of the committee and the approval number, where applicable.
The journal reserves the right to request additional documentation supporting the ethical and legal compliance of the study. The Editorial Committee or the journal’s reviewers may request further information from authors regarding the ethical standards and safeguards of the research, which must follow the principles of the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity, especially in all matters involving consent or assent, or the authorisation to use databases.
Failure to comply with these requirements will be grounds for rejection of the manuscript.
