Revista Género SUR is an inter- and transdisciplinary open access electronic journal (diamond route) attached to the Centre for Gender Studies of the Universidad Católica de Temuco (CEG-UCT). Its aim is to disseminate and promote debate and reflection in the field of Gender Studies and Feminist Theories. The journal fosters research that examines the category of gender and its interaction with the social, cultural, economic, historical and political practices and relations that shape territory. It therefore focuses on research that problematises power relations and dynamics of domination, as well as the negotiations and forms of resistance that arise in response to them.

The journal follows a continuous publication model, with submissions accepted on a rolling basis. It receives scientific research articles, essays, systematisations of territorial experience and reviews. Its purpose is to contribute to the production of theoretical and methodological knowledge at local, national and international level. It also seeks to generate inter- and transdisciplinary dialogue, constituting a space for debate and for the dissemination of diverse forms of knowledge.

The journal’s mission is to disseminate knowledge relating to gender and feminist issues. The journal recognises the importance of producing critical knowledge grounded in feminist epistemological approaches and in methodological contributions that broaden and consolidate Gender Studies. Alongside this, it values other forms of knowledge and promotes situated thought, in order to contribute to the analysis of and reflection on sex-gender differences and their entanglement with social class, race and other categories of social identification and differentiation.

The journal’s target readership comprises academics, independent researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students, activists and social organisations with an interest in the field of Gender Studies and Feminist Theories. The journal welcomes both individual and collective authorship, nationally and internationally.

Its main thematic areas are the following:

● Education and work: examines gender gaps, inequalities and inequities in the fields of education and work. It considers education and work as both formal and informal systems in which gender-based violence is reproduced.

● Bodies, subjectivities and spiritualities: critically examines the oppression, resistance and liberation of the bodies of individuals and communities, exploring their individual and collective representations and meanings. It values subjectivities and identities as sites of knowledge.

● Violence and institutions: identifies and analyses gender-based violence, both present and historical. It focuses on unravelling the dynamics of power and their intersections, as well as the forms of resistance that emerge in response to them.

● Territory, nature and culture: integrates and mainstreams the category of gender and feminist methodologies in the study of the social, economic, environmental and relational characteristics of territories, as well as of the processes through which they are defended.

● Feminist epistemology and research methodologies: addresses the influence of the sex-gender system on the generation and dissemination of knowledge. It also interrogates research practices and generates new proposals for approaching social reality on the basis of feminist theory and praxis.

● Activism, memory and feminisms of the South: reconstructs the political practices of Global South feminisms, as well as forms of agency and resistance, as sites of knowledge. It regards memory as an exercise in the collective reconstruction of the past.

● Studies on masculinities: analyses the historical, social and cultural construction of the masculine as a consequence of the sex-gender system, and its repercussions for individual and collective practices and for the construction of subjectivities.
