Abstract
The This article reflects about the importance of family relationships in the configuration of the political system during the reign of Felipe IV (1621-1665). It is focused on the analysis of the marriages of the offspring of one
of the most important characters of this period: García de Avellaneda y Haro, II Count of Castrillo. Through this investigation, dialogue is promoted between recent theoretical-methodological proposals of social history and the paradigm of the Court as a system of government. Wherewith it pretends to make an essay of the joint
use of these two historiographical traditions.
