Abstract
This paper analyzes part of the philosophical thought of Ramiro Pérez Reinoso (1901-1994), a little studied Peruvian intellectual whose aim was to develop an intellectual proposal that would lead Latin American culture towards a 'spiritual autonomy'. In order to understand this purpose, we will study some elements of his historical context (1930s and 1940s) as well as his sociological and political thought that will contribute to this purpose. Then we will analyze the concepts of "barbarian philosophy" and "psychological settler", of great relevance for an autonomous way of thinking and inhabiting the world according to the author. Finally, we will offer some reflections on the intellectual context of the 30's and 40's of the Chilean 20th century that will allow us to understand the importance of this thinker in that cultural field.
