Abstract
The objective of this study was to understand the educational and pedagogical quality conditions pertaining to the comprehensive care of children aged 0 to 3 years and pregnant mothers who are imprisoned in a women's prison context in Colombia. The objective was to contribute to the development of distinct models of care in early education for children whose mothers are incarcerated. In order to identify the quality components of educational care, the researchers employed four instruments proposed by the Ministry of National Education and the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF). The findings underscore the difficulties inherent in improving the quality of educa- tion in prison settings. Consequently, it is necessary to establish a distinctive pedagogical model, re-examine the role and interaction of caregivers, and gain insight into the learning community within prison settings, with a particular focus on female inmates.
