Abstract
The main purpose of this investigation is to study Lima ́s 1609 earthquake, providing new documentation in order to bring it into de historical spotlight, analysing it from an historical and social perspective of the studies of natural disasters. This work aims to provide this evento with the historical relevance that has been denied to it, understanding “natural disasters” as a human way to interpretate the effects cetain natural phenomena, and trying to comprehend the social constructions and interpretations in which those are manifested.
