Abstract
This study will investigate the literary behavior of pre-Hispanic writings: the ideogram and pictogram explained by means of the rhetorical figure of ecphrasis, in order to bring the reading of these pieces of art closer to literary theory. This, through the distinction of its signifier or thing-work and its meaning that Jean Mukarovsky distinguishes from the work of art as a sign, and thus unveil the various stories and descriptions inscribed in objects of ritual and everyday use.
