Abstract

María Huenuñir (Panguipulli, 1968) began her poetic career with Malen Mapu (2003), a book that includes eight bilingual Mapuzugun – Spanish poems. After reviewing the author's career and the evolution of her writing in Mapuzugun, the contrastive analysis of the versions of her opera prima, supported by the personal testimony of the author herself, aimed to clarify the place of the original in the poems. This analysis seeks to assess the importance of writing in Mapuzugun, which finds itself at a sociolinguistic crossroads between the loss and revitalization of the Mapuche language, in an unfavorable context of the hegemony of Spanish and the subalternization of Mapuzugun.
