Abstract
This dossier examines the current drifts of the culture industry through the tension between two readings: one that, following the Frankfurt School, conceives of it as a device for standardizing taste and neutralizing critique, and another that understands it as a space for the visibility and circulation of values, capable of broadening social imaginaries. It brings together interdisciplinary contributions on cinema, literature, art and the thought of Ortega y Gasset that question current forms of cultural production, circulation and reception, attending both to their emancipatory possibilities and to their homogenizing effects.
